Many of us have that friend or family member who is the practical joker of the group. As soon as you've dropped your guard, you've found yourself with egg on your face. It is for this reason that National Lottery winner, Wayne Rowles, 45, refused to take his £1 million fortune too seriously as he often falls prey to his brother's pranks.
“I was convinced that my younger brother, who regularly plays practical jokes on me, had somehow found a way to trick me," Wayne said. “Terence loves practical jokes. This is just the sort of thing that he would find very funny. When I spoke to him he seemed genuinely baffled.
It was only once he’d promised that it wasn’t a joke, and I’d checked the numbers again. It was only then that I believed this was really happening. I just shut my ticket in a drawer and tried not to think about it. Of course, that was impossible and I haven’t really slept since Saturday.”
Wayne's brother, Terence, 35, had to convince him that this is one time that he had not pulled one over him, stating: “It’s nothing to do with me!”
The new millionaire has his heart set on purchasing a new car and spoiling his loved ones. Wayne usually spends his time taking care of the elderly friends of the family, including his 82-year-old father.
“I work as a full-time carer and this win will help me to have a secure income and continue to be a carer without having to worry about money.”
