Half A Million In Cash Won By Irish Lotto Player

Although there were no winners for the last National Lottery draw, one man finally came forward to claim his half a million Euro prize for the previous draw.

The National Lottery Office in Dublin was met by an Irish winner, accompanied by his family, who described his windfall as "life-changing." The man from Wexford was the lucky recipient of a check worth €500,000 million which he won in the Irish Lotto's Euromillions. The carer was clearly elated as he described in a brief interview what the win meant to his family.

“This is a life changing, once in a lifetime win for my family. I am a full time carer for members of my family and we were living from week to week on my carer’s allowance. €500,000 will make a huge difference to our lives and it will take the everyday pressures of making ends meet away for a long time."

The Wexford man, who purchased his ticket at the Drive Centre in Ballinaboola, went on to describe his appreciation at having so much cash. “I have worked hard all of my life to take care of my family and those around me. This money will go a long to make sure that we are all secure for many years to come.”

There was another winner who became an instant winner in the Euromillions game. The man from Clare, who wishes to remain anonymous, took home €195,998 after he managed to correctly match five numbers. He was accompanied by two of his closest friends.

“I could have come on my own but I wanted to share the experience with my two best friends. I’m going to enjoy the win over the next couple of days but first, I have plans to pay off my mortgage and we will see what is left after that."
